Jennifer Lopez Teams Up with FX to produce comedy series
Jennifer Lopez and producing partner Simon Fields have teamed with FX on the half-hour project "Echo Park," a comedic look at the world of yuppie, Latino and hipster cultures within Los Angeles' Echo Park neighborhood.
Variety says Jennifer Lopez and Fields will executive produce via their Nuyorican Productions. FX has ordered a pilot script from writer Ian Edelman. Jennifer Lopez is also producing the MTV series "Moves," a dance-based reality show revolving around six amateur dancers trying to make it into showbiz. MTV has greenlit eight episodes, some of which will feature appearances by Lopez, for the fourth quarter. Posted on 16 Aug 2006
Jennifer Lopez launches Amnesty International website
Jennifer Lopez has teamed up with human rights charity Amnesty International to launch a new bilingual website aimed at raising awareness about a Mexican femicide.
Jennifer Lopez jumped at the chance to fund the project after learning that 350 young women have been killed in Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua since 1993 as she researched new movie Bordertown. In the film, Jennifer Lopez plays a reporter investigating the murders. Amnesty International officials are keen to make the matter an international concern after learning that federal agents in Mexico closed the case on the murders earlier this summer. More than 100 of the young girls killed were raped, strangled and discovered in the desert near Juarez. Posted on 06 Aug 2006
Jennifer Lopez Drops Out of 'Dallas'
Jennifer Lopez has abruptly quit the much-anticipated big screen remake of classic 1970s show Dallas.
The Maid in Manhattan actress was set to star opposite John Travolta--who will play J.R. Ewing--as his alcoholic wife Sue Ellen. Shirley MacLaine is in talks to star as Ewing family matriarch Miss Ellie and Luke Wilson is rumored to be taking on the role of Bobby Ewing. Jennifer Lopez's representative Leslie Sloane Zelnick confirms to Star, "She is out of Dallas." This isn't the first report of trouble regarding the film--earlier this year, Legally Blonde director Robert Luketic quit the project citing "creative differences" and was reportedly unhappy with casting choices. Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha is now attached to direct the film. The role of Lucy Ewing has also been the subject of much speculation, with many of Hollywood's top young actresses vying for the part including Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan and Kristin Cavallari. The role ultimately went to 19-year-old Katie Cassidy, who stars in family drama 7th Heaven. Posted on 03 Aug 2006
Jennifer Lopez 's night behind bars exposed in new book
Details of JENNIFER LOPEZ's night in jail are to be revealed for the first time in a new book written by one of the cops on duty the night she and then-lover P DIDDY were arrested. In his expose, NOTORIOUS C.O.P: THE INSIDE STORY OF THE TUPAC, BIGGIE AND JAM MASTER JAY INVESTIGATIONS FROM THE HIP-HOP COP, DERRICK PARKER recalls Lopez sobbing as she was handcuffed to her cell door. Lopez and rap mogul Diddy, real name SEAN COMBS, were arrested as they attempted to flee from a New York nightclub after a shooting incident in 1999. Lopez, who has always maintained she had nothing to do with the incident and has never been charged, seemed "traumatised" by her first night behind bars, according to Parker. He tells US tabloid the National Enquirer, "The cops had her handcuffed roughly to the top of the cell cage. (She was) still in her little club outfit, a long pink coat with fur on the collar. "J.Lo was crying and upset - her agitation exacerbated by the fact that her arms had been locked upright in an uncomfortable position for at least an hour... (She was) breaking down."

Jennifer Lopez accused of casting 'voodoo' spells on lovers
Superstar Jennifer Lopez has cast "voodoo" spells on all her lovers past and present, according to ex-husband Ojani Noa.
Noa, who was married to Lopez from 1997 to 1998, claims the singer practises Santeria, a set of religious beliefs brought to the Americas by West African slaves in the 18th and 19th centuries, which involve chanting, trance states and animal sacrifice. He alleges J.Lo used the practise to cast spells on him and insists former fiance Sean 'Diddy' Combs, second husband Cris Judd and current spouse Marc Anthony have also been victims. Speaking in a court deposition, Noa - battling Lopez over his plan to release a book about their marriage - says, "She was doing bad things to a lot of people. She was doing all this religious bulls**t to me, to Cris, to Puffy, to Anthony," the New York Daily News reports. Last week Jennifer Lopez won an injunction banning Noa from going ahead with the memoir, just a year after he was paid GBP83,000 to sign an agreement to keep quiet. Posted on 07 Jul 2006
Second man admits Jennifer Lopez extortion
Steven Wortman, 49, from New Jersey, pleaded guilty to attempted grand larceny in exchange for a sentence of three years probation. Another man, Tito Moses, 29, pleaded guilty to the same charge at Manhattan Supreme Court earlier this month.
The video of Lopez and Marc Anthony's 2004 wedding was stolen in October. It was in a lap-top computer that was in Anthony's car when it was stolen in New Jersey. The singer's car was later recovered, but the laptop was gone. When Justice Bonnie Wittner asked Wortman whether he and Moses demanded the money in telephone calls between 20-27 December 2005 "in exchange for not releasing [the video] to the general public", he replied, "sorrowfully, yes". Moses pleaded guilty to the charge two weeks ago in exchange for a sentence of 18 months to three years in prison. Posted on 30 Jun 2006

Ex-Hubby's Book Gets Under J.Lo's Skin
Ojani Noa hasn't had Jennifer Lopez's love for a long time, but that hasn't stopped him from declaring himself an expert on the subject. A tell-all book that J.Lo's first husband is supposedly planning to write will describe in minute detail what he refers to as the couple's first sexual encounter, according to court documents obtained Tuesday by Los Angeles' City News Service.
"Sadly, no personal detail is too sacred to be sold by Noa for profit," the papers, filed Friday by Lopez's attorney, Paul Sorrell, state. The actress' camp filed for a preliminary injunction in April to stop Noa from going ahead with his plan to pen the humbly titled The Unknown Truth: A Passionate Portrait of a Serial Thriller, alleging that he offered to back off if Lopez hooked him up with $5 million. She also is requesting that he not be able to profit at all from any private details he may be peddling, whether they wind up in a book or not. Sorrell is scheduled to argue for the injunction in court on June 30 against Noa's lawyer, Robert Vasquez, who filed a six-page document last week denying Lopez's allegations that his client's "compliance could be bought for the right price." The 36-year-old Monster-in-Law star took legal action in April after the New York Post ran an item about a book proposal Noa was reportedly shopping around, in which each chapter was named after a title of one of Lopez's films. According to the latest filing, Noa is also prepared to dish about Lopez having "multiple duplicitous sexual affairs" on the set of 1997's Anaconda and about her having a relationship with Marc Anthony while he was still married to Dayanara Torres and while Lopez was still stepping out with Sean "Diddy" Combs. Noa also intends to write that the On the 6 singer's mother, Guadalupe Lopez, is racist and has a gambling problem, the documents stated. (What she actually has is a luck problem, winning $2.4 million in 2004 while fiddling with the dollar slots in Atlantic City.) "Noa will do anything within his power to make money off his ex-wife--and thinks nothing of willfully breaching the agreement and hurting [Lopez] in the process," Sorrell wrote. "He is out of control." The agreement he's referring to is a $125,000 settlement agreement that Lopez and Noa arrived at after he sued her for allegedly backing out of a promise to let him manage one of her restaurants. As part of the settlement, Noa was told he could not divulge any intimate details about his former wife or their relationship for monetary gain. Now, either Noa is unclear about what constitutes intimacy or he disagrees with the above agreement. It's a toss-up. In a deposition taken earlier this month, Noa said that he should be free to publish anything he wants because he doesn't consider himself bound to the terms of the settlement. "I mean, I live in a free country," he said. "No? I can express myself. I can talk and say whatever I want to." "Amazingly, Noa also claims that the terms of the agreement are too vague…because they do not specify exactly what personal details about [his ex-wife] Noa cannot reveal," Sorrell stated. Also in the more than 285 pages of documents filed Friday was the allegation that Noa recently tried to sell videos of Jennifer Lopez primping for their wedding and honeymoon and another featuring her in a revealing bikini to the National Enquirer. Jennifer Lopez married Noa in February of 1997 and was outta there by March 1998. Posted on 29 Jun 2006
